Art and Design

Inessa Williams, Year 10 GCSE Photography
The department has four specialist art teachers experienced in painting, drawing, photography, textile and clay work. We are housed in a group of rooms including a fully equipped clay room and a computer room.

Art and design offers a wide range of courses at Key Stage Three and subsequent examination level. GCSE courses include Fine Art and Photography; ‘A’ level’ s are offered in General Art and Design, Fine Art and Applied Art. In September 2011 BTEC Level 3 in Textiles will be introduced.

Through a variety of activities the department aims to help all our students reach their full potential. We encourage a sense of enquiry about the visual world we all live in, help students express themselves through art and design and introduce students to the contribution that art, craft and design has made to the world. The subject offers opportunities for our students to develop their own creativity and produce something that is completely unique and personal.
