February 2012
Petty Officer Andrew Fleming delivered a presentation to Year 9 students based on their Geography Unit "Unfair World", students were introduced to the idea that modern conflicts are connected with the increased demand for fossil fuels.

He also examined the idea that poverty in countries such as Somalia is giving rise to modern pirates. This presentation also outlined what the Royal Navy is, where it operates and the different careers open to students. Mr McGeown said " The talk from Andrew Fleming brought these issues into the class room and the students were very grateful and enthused by his presentation."

The Geography Department excelled themselves again at the Y6 Open Day in September. Visiting Y6 students and their parents thoroughly enjoyed the activities which had been arranged for them. Many thanks to students who gave up their Saturday to participate!
