Introduction to the department

The learning support department is responsible for providing support for all pupils with special educational needs. This may be provided on a 1:1 basis, in a small group withdrawal setting or within the classroom environment. TAs are adequately trained in order to be able to support SEN pupils with difficulties in areas including cognition and learning, communication and interaction, sensory impairment and physical disabilities as well as those with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. The department has close links with the core subjects, nurture centre and student guidance teams.
