Sixth Form Student Voice
The next meeting of the Sixth Form Voice will take place on Wednesday 15 February 2012 in the Study Area from 3.15 - 4.15 pm
Agenda items include:
• Review of mock exams
• How we use the sixth form block, study area and common room
• Enrichment activities
• Independent learning
• Prize Night
The Student Voice provides an opportunity to discuss and influence the future of the sixth form and has met twice during the last two half terms. This is a high level meeting involving governors, senior leaders, teaching staff and students from Year 12 and Year 13. It is an open forum and any member of the sixth form at St. Mary's is welcome to attend. It provides an excellent opportunity to observe and take part in a formal meeting with a chair person and a secretary taking minutes which are agreed and published after the meeting. Items which have been discussed so far include:
•budgeting and the effects of the new Coalition Government on sixth form spending
•teaching and learning in the sixth form
•extending the sixth form voice to be the student voice for the whole school
•dress code
We are proud of the large number of sixth form students who have attended the sixth form voice so far and we would encourage every student in the sixth form to try to attend the meetings, which are held towards the end of each half term.
Successful outcomes from the meetings so far include:
•Sixth form teachers actively seeking feedback and implementing changes in teaching techniques
•Enrichment opportunities
•Changes to the menu
•Sixth form radio
•Extra cutlery in the sixth form canteen!!
Please see Dr Hyde if you wish to be involved.
