Assistant Headteacher – 2 Posts (Leadership L13-17)

Required for 1st September 2012

Following the promotion of the existing Assistant Headteacher and a staffing review the Governors of this high performing and oversubscribed Catholic high school wish to appoint two innovative and inspirational leaders to work as Assistant Headteachers.  St Mary’s is an exciting place to learn and work.  The school was judged Outstanding in 2009 and has made significant improvement since then in the pursuit of excellence for every individual within our community.

Post One: Assistant Headteacher – Teaching and Learning

The successful candidate will play an integral role in shaping the development of the school in the future.  The focus will be specifically on the relentless improvement of all aspects of teaching and learning through self evaluation, coaching and mentoring, co-ordinating professional development opportunities and leading the team of ASTs across the school.

Post Two: Assistant Headteacher – Director of Key Stage

Each Key Stage is led by a Director who is an Assistant Headteacher and member of the Senior Leadership Team.  The primary function of the post is to provide strategic leadership of a key stage to ensure that each child makes outstanding progress.  This is achieved through the provision of an appropriate and personalised curriculum, the effective monitoring of assessment data and the commissioning and leading of intervention as needed.  Each Director of Key Stage leads a team of colleagues which include a non-teaching student guidance officer responsible for leading each year group.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate will lead Key Stage 3 in the first instance.

If you are interested in both posts you are required to apply for each one separately.
